Skin resurfacing

By berna

I am interested in having skin resufacing done.  However, I just had a baby three weeks ago and I am wondering how long I should wait before I have this procedure.

The time period that one should wait in between giving birth and having an elective cosmetic procedure should probably be determined by the patient's state of mind, the plastic surgeon and obstetrician.   Depending on the degree of skin resurfacing, the amount of care necessary after the procedure will vary.  If a patient is *** feeding their newborn than a chemical peel is not an option for the resurfacing.  In addition the altered hormone levels could play a role in pigment issues following a resurfacing.  Taking all this into account it is probably best to wait at least six months before considering resurfacing.
