It has been nearly three months since the tissue filler Juvederm was introduced into the U.S. cosmetic market.  My experience up to this point has been nothing but positive.  As compared to the other hyaluronic acid tissue fillers, I have found Juvederm to have a much smoother consistency and hence patients have had a lot less ‘lumpiness’ following the injection.   This lumpiness found with the other hyaluronic acid tissue fillers, would last generally one to two weeks following injection and was for the most part not visible but only evident to touch.  Patients have also surprisingly complained of less bruising following the injections.  The smoothness of the Juvederm has also afforded an additional benefit, namely the ability to inject the product in regions of the face that have particularly thin skin i.e. skin in the area of the lower eyelid.  This can certainly be done with other products, but again the smoothness of the product allows for a more reliable result.  As far as the longevity of the product is concerned, only time will tell if the duration of results will be greater then the other leading tissue fillers.  I will keep you posted in the coming months.

Question:  My nose is a family identifying trait and I wanted to know if it is possible when performing a rhinoplasty  to narrow the width of the nose without making the nose smaller in size and getting rid of the hump on my nose?

This is an excellent question and the short answer to the question is Yes.  Today it is not uncommon for people to want to keep many of the features of their nose while changing others.  For instance, a person may want to keep the slight hump on their nose seen in profile but at the same decrease the width of the nose surrounding the hump.  This is a request seen when people are trying to keep some identifying characteristics of their nose, such as the hump.  The hump on their nose is a ‘family heirloom’ (ha ha) or simply put is their mother’s nose and they want to keep that characteristic.  Your request reflects the trend that is being seen in cosmetics today: Ethnic looking noses are for lack of a better phrase ‘IN’.  This can be easily seen by simply looking at many top models that have less than the ‘aesthetically perfect’ nose.

Happy Holidays! I just wanted to say hello. I was wondering if I could get a little information on Dr. Moynihan. What surgeries does he like doing the best? What surgeries are his best results usually seen? He only has a few facelift B&A's..but they are VERY VERY subtle. I like that. I'm a new 35 and would like a lift...a tummy tuck, a possible *** lift and for sure implants. I also need a second revision on my nose. I had a bad rhino done a little less than 2 years ago, and a semi successful revision was done in Oct 2005 (be a different docm ofcourse..) I already chose my second revison doc..just need the $30,000. OUCH! Please share with me any info on this doc. Thank you!

Lip Repair

During college I was involved in an incident where I was blindsided in the face by an empty beer pitcher.  I fell off the bar into the dishwasher behind the bar.  I sustained a severe laceration to my upper lip which has never quite healed properly.  What are my options and/or your recommendations on what can be done for me?

If I choice to get a nose job, is there some kind of visual simulation I can see prior to the surgery that will show me what the results will look like?  How accurate are those images?  Thank you for the information in advance.

What is the recovery period for blepharoplasty?  What strategies are there in managing swelling and discoloration immediately after surgery?  Has anyone out there had it?  How much pain is associated with it?
